Getting home ahead of others is always lucky

Life as an outsourcing consultant is usually good when you crack side deals and one or two large ones to keep you going through the year. Afterall, it is a food chain and everyone is dependant on a sale. Does that come easily? well...umm..aahh...a few flights, staying in hotels, creating 3 slide quick presentations, convincing yourself that you can convince the client that your methodology is convincing enough to make them feel good, missing the flights because you could not get to the airport on time and the new phenomenon in the avaiation industry worldwide - we call it "Taxi--ing Culture".

Everything seemed so right as i got into the Philadelphia airport after meeting my client an hour away. The flight was at the gate, i was on time, the sky looked a bit cloudy but was ready to welcome the Boeings and the Airbuses with open arms. Was anyone aware of what was to come in the next..well ...few hours?

The storm system that hit the east coast in the evening was at it's worst. We were categorically told that there would be more than an hour's delay after we boarded the aircraft. One hour, inhind sight would have been very good.

87 flights on the 3 runways of the Philadelphia International Airport and a good number of aircrafts at the gates, waiting to join their cousins, big brothers and peers. Apparently the whole of east coast was down and if that was not it, Texas had it's deal with Dolly that ripped the state apart too thus getting down another hub for a major airline. All airlines( United, US AIrways, North West, Continental, British..you name it) were sitting helpless spending $600 an hour for fuel on the runway waiting for instructions.

After a 4 hour "Survivor" series inside the aircraft on the runway, the crazy god decided it was time for us to get to Chicago. "We are firing our engines but we just heard that we are number 32 in the flying sequence", came a voice from the speaker system which we recognized was similar to the pilot on this aircraft.

After 6 hours of pain, we finally landed in beautiful Chicago.

At least I got saved from staying at a hotel for the night. I really get tempted to say - I am feeling lucky today.

Cricket Feels Lucky to have Sachin choose it as his game

172 runs between Sachin and history. I was watching the channels speak about this test series where Sachin will eventually make it as the highest run getting in test cricket, surpassing Brian Lara's record.

Who ever knew that 18 years back, this small kid would create wonders for Indian cricket. His records are proof. There was even a time when someone said, he cannot get one day hundreds. What a record he created after he actually started converting the 80s and 90s to 100s. 42 jewels under his belt is not a small achievement.

Needless to say, it is not Indian team or Sachin or his wife and kids but Cricket that will stand up and say "I am Feeling Lucky Today"

A Politician: Someone who always says I am feeling lucky Today

Its that time of the year in Indian Politics where every hiding politician seems to have come out of hibernation to get the best food available to consume. It does not matter whether the local trains were on time or the flight overshot the airport and the pilot realized he had dreamt of a landing, politics will be stuff with fun like a local train and politicians will be high flying as they keep the common massess waiting at the airport.

Today seems to be the day of final examinations for the government. Isnt it wrong on the part of the politicians to be dead against horse trading( read betting) in sports when all they do is something similar? Well, they should not be blamed for all this happening - it was you, the person next to you and I that voted for our representatives. Actually, our representatives( whichever parties we align to) are doing their jobs to either keep the government alive or to bring the government down.

The questions that always come to our mind are - should this be stopped once and for all and we have God take care of our government?

Lets see what is in store. UPA will say "I am Feeling Lucky Today"

How good are survey sites

I used to take time out to contribute to other blog sites around topics that were of interest to me. It was finally time for me to create a blog site and get on the internet and talk to you.

I was at a weekend party at my friend's place a couple of weeks back when i realized that the concept of people registering to various survey sites and spending time answering questions is the in thing. The lure of award and reward points and in some cases, cash in your mail box makes each one of us tempted to spend that extra time we have at our disposal.

I started working on reviewing every site and the returns from every site and will be sharing it in my next blog - i need something to keep the blog going :).

The intent will be to arrive at a conclusion which, if followed well will make you say "I am Feeling Lucky Today"
